Online Documentation: General Features
How to use Attachments in EZ-MES?
EZ-MES has extensive support for file attachments. File Attachments can be added
to the
Document Objects or to Record Objects.
Each of these Objects can contain multiple files.
Document Objects can be linked to most
Configuration Objects like
Flow Definitions,
Step Definitions, etc., while the
Record Objects can be linked to
Traveler and
Part Records. So in general, Documents are ment
to store Work Instructions, Part Drawings, while Records are used to store measurement
files, pictures of defects, etc.
By linking the Document and Record Objects the objects can be reused without uploading
the file (E.g. a work instruction that is used for multiple Step Definitions) preventing
possible mistakes due to redundant documents.
File Location of Uploaded Files
All actual files are located in the Upload Folder. This is a folder located in the
Root Folder of the EZ-MES application. The following figure shows the structure
of the upload folder
Note the following:
- The Document Files are stored in a folder that is named using the Unique Document
Number: DC09-000001
- Same for the Record Files: RC09-000001
- The folders can contain multiple files
Actions related to Attachments
The actions for the Document and Record attachements are almost the same, so a number
of the following is applicable to both:
Traveler Attachments
During the lifespan of a traveler, files can be attached to the traveler. The following
figure shows how 'Document Objects' are attached to a traveler and how Files are
attached to the 'Document Object'. Click

Pictures in general graphic formats like GIF, JPG, and PNG can be viewed directly
in the incorporated picture viewer.
